This is some extra information on how the school itself works. Mainly to allow you guys to see if anything you are wondering could be answered here and to help set things up a bit better. Course, if there are still questions, feel free to ask them down below or in the Q and A section and either me or Magicalalchemist will try to get back to you as soon as we can.^^
The Classes
Most classes allow both magic and non magic users students to take them but there are a few that only allow students with certain magical skills to take them. An example of this is the shape shifting class. This is due to the fact that the lessons are designed to mainly help teach the students on ways they can improve in their magical skills.
Students normally should take up to six classes. However, some classes may only take place once or twice a week. Due to this, a student can take more classes if they do not crash with the once a week class or be allowed to have a free period.
Basic Living
Due to this being a boarding school, each student is assigned a dorm and a roommate. The rooms are designed to be big enough so both students can have their own side and design it in any fashion they see fit. There are cases where a student may have two roommates based on the number of students each year but if so, they will be given a bigger room so each person can have enough space for themselves.
For the most part, the dress code is pretty relaxed. Students may not wear anything to revealing, no skirts or shorts that are too short, no heels at a student can not walk in correctly, and to make sure you have changed out of your pajamas before a certain time outside of the dorm area and in the school area on dates where classes take place. Students are given gym uniforms that they can change into or bring their own as long as it follows the code for gym. Gym is a bit more stern on rules but it is mainly to make sure a student may not overheat themselves by mistake or get themselves hurt.
Each student is also given a weekly allowance of normally $250 dollars that they can use to buy lunches and dinners outside of the school or for whatever they want. During the first few weeks of students getting last minute school supplies or items for their dorms, the allowance will increase in order to try to help students out a bit. However, if a student ends up spending all of their money before that week is up, they may need to find a part time job.
Breakfasts, lunches, and dinner meals are given for free to students and staff members within the school during the whole year. This is the same for all text books, gym clothing, and basic bedroom furniture. However, if a student loses the textbook, they will need to pay to place it and any snacks from the lunchroom outside of the meal times will need to be brought. Same for if the gym uniform needs to be replaced if it had been lost.
Language
As a school that welcomes students from all over the world, it is common for some students to not know much English. In order to try to help with this, many different staff members have found ways to help students with this.
-Syndrome’s earphones: Made by the science teacher and given out on the first day of his classes. While it doesn’t allow the wearer to speak English, it does allow what they hear the lessons and other students in their first language. It’s a pretty helpful item for those who may have some trouble learning English as well or just feel better hearing lessons in their first language.
-Spells: A more basic way to help students learn English. This will allow a student to understand and speak it enough that they can talk to others and give a basic understanding to what they are saying. However, a student shouldn’t use spells alone. It is a very good idea for students to try to see if there are extra classes over the weekend for learning English more and to keep up their studies. It is very common for students to have an accent at first too. Plus note at using the spell doesn’t mean you will be able to speak English forever: Like with a second language, if one does not use it for a long period of time, they may need to re-learn things they once knew.
-Charms: These may be able to be find in different stores around town. Basically, acts a bit like Syndrome’s earphones ex they also allow the student to be heard in the other students’ first language. This can be a bit pricey based on the type of charm a student may buy and they will need to wear it in order for it to work. The charms also need to be kept in very good shape or it will no longer work and a student will need to buy a new one. It’s honestly not a bad idea for students to go with the earphones and spells due to this.
Pets
Pets are allowed at the dorm rooms and are allowed inside the school during meal times, along with before and after class time. The main times pets are only allowed in classes is if the teacher requests students to bring them. This is for both the students and pets safety due to the type of magic at some classes may use. Students taking Magical Creature 101 will also be given pets at they will need to take care of during the year. The school is willing to supply the needs for a student’s pet but a student must let the staff know ahead of time so they can make sure there is enough food, toys, and so now for all the pets.
If something happens where a student is roomed with another student who can’t be around the pet, the student can let the teachers know and work something out.
Technology and vehicles
Students are allowed to bring any type of technology they own either it be phones, computers, and so on. Base on their classes, they may be given a school computer at can only be used for classes.
There is a parking garage next to the dorms for any students who may own a car and drove to the town themselves. A student doesn’t need to pay for the spot but they are requests to allow staff members to know they will be bringing their cars ahead of time to make sure there is still enough spots open. First come will be first service.
Rules
Like any school, there are rules students will need to follow. If they are disable, the student will get in trouble.
*No fighting among students-This is a more serious rule. While yes some classes may have students fight in order to train, most if not all training must always be watched over by a teacher to make sure no serious harm is done. If any fighting is done outside of those classes or is clearly not meant to be training, the student will get into serious trouble. However, any student merely protecting him or her self or caught in the middle but had nothing to do with it will not be punished.
*Be respectful to each other-Another serious rule. If a student spots another student being bullied, they should tell a teacher right away. While it is understand different cultures of the school may crash at times, students should try to be respectful to each other. If something a student says or does confuses another student, he or she shouldn’t be afraid to ask a teacher about it: After all, learning of different cultures in the world can be very helpful and may help some students feel more welcome if other students show respect to his or her culture.
*Avoid using abusive or profane language-Now this may be based on teacher to teacher. While some teachers may be fine with the words like ‘damn’ or ‘hell’ used, others may not. However, words like ‘bitch’, ‘bastard’, other insults and the f bomb are not allowed in any classes. If a student is unsure if a teacher is fine with certain words or not, do not be afraid to ask.
*Do not deface or damage school property
*Respect the property of others
