Name: Tamatoa
Age: 41
Species: Shapeshifter
Powers: Shapeshifting (Monster Crab) and Hypnosis
Occupation: Current Magical Creatures 101 Teacher at Arcane Magia Academy
Personality: On the surface, Tamatoa is a vain and greedy man whose ego and self-confidence goes beyond the roof. He tries to be suave and charming, but he sometimes could be a bit of a dork. However, his personality can flip completely into something dark in certain circumstances. Despite his snarky and sarcastic attitude, Tamatoa does have a bit of wisdom and advice to share when he's in the mood for it.
History: Tamatoa once lived in an underwater settlement known as Lalotai or the Realm of Monsters named so for their exotic and dangerous creatures that lived there. He among his family and others were shapeshifters able to change into monster crabs. When Tamatoa was young, he met a young magic user named Maui who was also a shapeshifter. The two became friends and decided to travel together to discover new places and treasure. As Tamatoa grew and became a little materialistic, he also grew jealous of Maui focusing on pleasing both magic users and non-magic users.
One particular day, one thing led to an argument that caused the two friends to fight and Maui to tear off one of Tamatoa's legs before they went their separate ways. While Maui went missing in action, Tamatoa grew bitter and became a recluse, traveling as best he could with his wound. He managed to get a peg leg for himself and came across Lunaville. Although he didn't want to stay and he wanted to go back to Lalotai, he stopped when he heard that the Arcane Magia Academy was looking for a Magical Creatures 101 teacher. After thinking about it, Tamatoa decided to apply for personal reasons including the chance to get away and be better than Maui. It took some convincing from the staff, but eventually Tamatoa was hired.
Even though he is very confident about teaching his first class, Tamatoa can't help but wonder of what's to come.
