I figure that since Balan Theater is often based in Lunaville, and isn't quite so physically distant from the city like most of the other NPcs are, they can get their own list. ^^ More NPcs will most likely be added in the future, but for now, I'm just making the list so it'll be easier to add said NPCs.
Balan Theater members
Balan (Balan Wonderland) - A dream spirit who has light magic, and famed actor/performer who owns the “Balan Theater”, a magical theater that is said to turn one’s dreams into reality, or act as the gateway to the dream world. The theater itself is never set in one place, and tends to show up all around the world, but usually always appears at some point in Lunaville. From what people know of him, Balan is a dramatic, comedic and unpredictable being who seems to be able to see into the hearts of others.
Lance (Balan Wonderland) - A nightmare spirit who has darkness magic, and one of the performers at Balan Theater. Lance usually performs somber, bittersweet stories and musicals, where even if things turn out horrible, there’s always at least some small glimmer of hope. There are rumors saying he is Balan’s older brother, and the two formed the theater together when Lunaville was still young. People who know him say he is a distant, but kind man who is drawn to humans and how their negativity can be used for good things at times.
NiGHTS (NiGHTS) - A dream spirit, and the relative of Balan and Lance. Has music magic and is gender-fluid. They perform at Balan theater, in which they most often star in light-hearted, comical stories where the hero always wins and has a good moral story behind it. They are popular among children and young teenagers. Most say they are energetic, loud and often act a bit childish themselves.
Reala (NiGHTS) - A nightmare spirit, and NiGHTS’s brother. Has mask magic, allowing him to change his shape into anything he imagines as long as he wears a mask. Often plays the villain or antagonist in the stories at the theater, though he doesn’t mind, finding it interesting. He’s more standoffish than the rest of his family, but he loves the performing arts just as much, and is never too busy to interact with fans.
Attilio Caccini (Balan Wonderland) - An apprentice performer at the Balan Theater, and can use balloon magic. Attilio loves performing and bringing a smile to people’s faces, being naturally comedic and funny. He has a talent for jokes and making interesting tricks with his balloon magic. However, he does have some stage fright at times, though the other performers always do their best to encourage him in their own way. Does online-schooling due to the theater always transporting somewhere else. Demisexual, and seems to like Cass.
Mr. Grimm. (American McGee’s Grim)- A short dwarf who has the power to corrupt cute things into nightmarish ones for a short period of time. He dislikes cute things and happy endings in stories (as in general). Normally performs in darker stories due to this and enjoys being kinda scary, and chaotic at the same time. He performs with Lance and Reala mainly, since he seems to listen to Lance the best, between him and Balan. Well, that plus Grimm and Reala get along well due to their love of horror and darker themed stories. Grimm is sometimes called Dark Man or the Evil Man by fans, which he takes pride in. Of course, he behaves around the police or any Magic council member due to a past problem that he prefers not to tell anybody about, and only they, him, Balan, and Lance know of. Straight and not interested in dating.
Dream Eaters (Kingdom Hearts) - A species of minor dream and nightmare spirits who act in the Balan Theater’s performances, in return for food, board and companionship, which they are all too happy to do. There are two types: Spirits, who eat bad dreams that negatively affect people’s health, and Nightmares, who plant nightmares to warn people of dangers in their lives. There is a vast variety of them, but they are known for their generally cuddly and affectionate nature.
Tim (Balan Wonderland) - Minor light spirits born from the happiness and joy of those who enjoy performances at Balan Theater. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and personalities, but at the core of their being, are happy, loving and happy-to-perform creatures, who often aid in Balan’s own performances. Most of them tend to act as pets for the actors, and even help people in the audience join the show, especially the children.
Negati (Balan Wonderland) - Minor darkness spirits born from negative emotions felt during Lance and Reala’s performances. Despite the method of bringing them into existence, they are rather gentle, and often act alongside the Tims to liven up a performance. Much like the Tims, they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but generally always the same set of colors. They most often show up during performances near Halloween, much to some people’s joy. Often act as Lance’s minions whenever he’s cast as a villain.
Costumes (Balan Wonderland) - A spirit species that is very diverse, and able to fuse with other species for a short time to become “costumes” for them to wear and use their powers, hence the name. While plentiful and unique, they are shy and often hide away from humans and other mortal races, preferring to remain unseen. The only time they can be spotted is at performances at the Balan Theater, where they’ll sing, dance and perform like never seen before. Costumes have a strong fondness for children and those who like to dream, and often gravitate towards them.
Narumi Katou (Karakuri Circus) - A Martial Artist who helps out at the Balan Theater, often acting as a handyman. Has no magic, but is super strong from his martial arts training. Though Narumi often says he’s a selfish guy who usually does things because he has something to gain, in truth, he’s one of the kindest and caring guys a person will meet, and he’s always willing to help someone out. Because of this kindness, though, he often pushes himself too far, and can spread himself too thin. However, Elenore is good at making sure he takes care of himself. Above all else, Narumi treasures the smiles and laughter of children, and hates when people make them feel scared or cry. He’s especially protective of Masaru, as the boy’s adoptive father. Bi, engaged to Elenore.
Elenore Shirogane (Karakuri Circus) - A talented Acrobat/puppeteer for the Balan Theater, and an alchemy-enhanced human. Has string magic. Elenore was born a healthy human child, but due to an attack caused by demons when she was a child, her aunt Fracine, a golem, sacrificed herself by using alchemy to protect and ensure Elenore’s health. Elenore is a calm, often composed and graceful young woman who loves to help spread joy and happiness through her performances. But what makes her most happy is when she is with Narumi and Masaru, saying she doesn’t need anything else when she’s with them. The only time a person can see her flustered is if they catch her staring at Narumi, or if something has happened to Masaru. Demisexual, engaged to Narumi.
Masaru Saiga (Karakuri Circus) - Elenore’s charge, as well as her adopted son. Has string magic and is learning to be a puppeteer, as well as martial arts from Narumi. A very empathic boy who often feels anger or sadness on the behalf of others, and does all he can to help someone, Masaru was actually the illegitimate son of a rich CEO, but has since been removed from the family’s custody and care due to the fact that his life was heavily threatened after his father’s will revealed that all the money would go to him once he was of age. Narumi and Elenore saved him from one of those attempts, and have since become his caretakers and parents. Masaru looks up heavily to his parents, and clearly admires them. He’s currently being home-schooled, due to the moving around of Balan Theater, but he does hope to go to Arcane Magia soon. Demisexual.
Nai (Karneval) - A spirit-human hybrid who works at Balan’s theater. Can transform between his human and spirit form. A very kind-hearted, pure, and innocent person, albeit a bit on the naive side. Due to his past and dependence on those he loves and trusts, Nai tends to rely on those around him who are willing to lend him help; this often leads to him getting in trouble. Nai does not know much about the world around him and is confused by very simple terms, not understanding the compliments he often receives due to his other-worldliness. Due to this, the members of the theater are highly protective of him and Nai often has someone with him when he leaves the theater. Due to his lack of knowledge about matters like romance, not able to date right now.
Gareki (Karneval) - A college student handles prop and machine maintenance t Balan’s Theater, as well as acting as Nai’s designated bodyguard when he leaves the theater. Has no magic. A major in mechanics, he is highly knowledgeable in the technological field. He likes to read books of practical knowledge that he is interested in and has the habit of falling asleep in the position that he reads. He speaks informally to everyone and is often blunt or cold in his replies. However, those close to him know that Gareki deeply cares for Nai and several others, doing his best to provide support and if needed, protection for his co-workers. Gareki has something of a criminal background, but fortunately it hasn’t affected his schooling. Demiromantic Gay.
Tsukumo (Karneval) - A performer/actress who works for Balan’s Theater. Has light magic. A daughter from a noble but toxic family, she initially was encouraged to leave and seek out her own joy in life by Hirato and Balan, who she once met at a party held at her family’s mansion. Ever since, Tsukumo has been under the theater’s care and is a proud member of it’s family. She takes her role in the performances seriously, and always gives her all in every performance, adding to the appeal. Tsukumo takes the safety and well-being of the theater very seriously, and won’t hesitate to keep people in line if they try to ruin a performance. Demisexual.
Hirato (Karneval) - A director in Balan’s Theatre who works to put together the performances with Balan and Lance. Has the power to summon the spirits of Banshees as a part of a magical contract. A very polite man who doesn't take his work too seriously, yet somehow does his job well most of the time. Enigmatic, his smile can be deceiving and he rarely shows his true feelings which is why no one can know what he's truly thinking at times. Frequently, he displays manipulative disposition beneath his polite exterior, tending to get others to do work he doesn’t want to do for him. Fortunately, Hirato doesn’t usually do this trick often, and it’s usually harmless, but most of the theater doesn’t appreciate the tricks he pulls. Although he never turns up until he is truly needed, he's always there when things get out of hand. Not interested in dating.
Yogi (Karneval) - A man who often works as a mascot for the theater by donning a mascot costume. Has thorn magic. Yogi is an eccentric man who always retains a bright disposition. Despite his age, he tends to act like a child; he is often very cheerful, however he becomes worried very easily, such as whenever Gareki insults him. He has a magical “allergy patch” on his cheek that he wears 24/7, to prevent a more violent and powerful alternate personality known as “Silver YogI” from coming out. This personality often seems to fail to recognize others he should know, which has caused several incidents in the past. Still, he tends to get along well with everyone, especially children because of his playful nature. Highly compassionate, Yogi cherishes his friends and becomes very worried whenever they're in danger. Straight.
Kiichi (Karneval) - A stunt performer who works at the Balan Theater, usually taking on a role in Lance’s more darker performances. Can summon a scythe. A highly talented and hard-working person, Kiichi is a proud perfectionist, but there seems to be occasions when she is inattentive to the details. Being strong-willed and possessing a hatred for losing, she refuses to lose to anyone, even her fellow performers in Balan Theater. She deals with situations in a calm and composed manner, and is seen to have much potential as a performer. Kiichi is also known for being blunt with her words and choosing logic over emotions most of the time, and can have a bit of an attitude, making her seem rude and self-serving. Still trying to figure out her sexuality.
Tsukitachi (Karneval) - A directing actor who works alongside Hirato to direct performances in the theater. Like Hirato, has a contract with spirits of Banshees to summon them to aid him. He's an optimist and an opportunist who worries little about the details. Though he seems easy going at first, he has a deep understanding of his surroundings, making one question if his chipper attitude is a facade. With a cheerful disposition, he's lazy for someone of his rank (often staying up late to finish assignments and paperwork), and is shown to have a strong love for alcohol, often going to the Black Moon Bar. In his youth, Tsukitachi was a known trouble-maker, and often prone to getting into somewhat serious trouble. Nowadays, he seems to have grown out of it…somewhat. Bisexual.
Jiki (Karneval) - Member of staff at Balan Theater, working as a part of the users. Has sight magic. A young man who appears to be soft-spoken and good-natured, especially when with people who are unfamiliar or are ordinary. However, when with people who are familiar or strange, he would accidentally make snide remarks. Rather, his making these comments seem more truthful than accidental. He collects many different medicinal plants because he enjoys cultivating them, and finds them useful for dealing with injuries the performers sometimes get. He may seem cold, but can be quite sociable. Though, that too may have been just a facade. For some reason, he doesn’t really get along well with Gareki. Has a crush on Tsukumo, but everyone’s pretty sure it’s one-sided.
Iva (Karneval) - The “big sister” of the Balan Theater, and a diva/performer. Has jewel magic. Reliable, independent and known for her beauty, Iva appears to be soft when she's with women, but she acts rough when she's with men, making people think she has had some trouble with men in the past, or she just doesn't know how to deal with them. Still, she cares for and protects the entirety of the theater, even the co-workers she doesn’t like. Iva particularly doesn’t like Jiki, due to his crush on Tsukumo, who is like a younger sister to her. Among all the performers who work with Hirato, Iva is not afraid to voice her opinions to Hirato, and is often the first one to speak up if something doesn't agree with her. Lesbian.
Akari (Karneval) - A doctor and scientist who works at the Balan Theater as it’s on-site medic and a member of the special effects team. Has no magic. Akai is known to be a “take-charge” kind of person, and isn’t afraid to make callous and/or insensitive remarks. Because of this, he does tend to make a fair amount of enemies, even if he actually doesn’t have any bad intentions. Akari is also a known definition of a workaholic, to the point that even if woken up at an ungodly hour, he’ll get right up and still be professional, much to the shock of others. Akari is also a rather irritable person, to the point that Hirato and Tsukitachi often exploit this weakness and have fun teasing him. Not interested in dating.
Gareki (Karneval) - A college student handles prop and machine maintenance t Balan’s Theater, as well as acting as Nai’s designated bodyguard when he leaves the theater. Has no magic. A major in mechanics, he is highly knowledgeable in the technological field. Hitsuji (Karneval) - A series of sheep-shaped spirits that work as the theater’s defense and cleaning staff, along with the Usagi. Many of them have the ability to summon cleaning utensils and transform them into weapons. While rather cute and innocent-looking, everyone who tries to cause trouble or danger at the theater are highly aware of the fact that they’re rather powerful and show no mercy to trouble-makers. While obedient towards Balan, Lance and the other higher-ups, the Hitsuji are very stern in regards to keeping the theater clean.
Usagi (Karneval) - A series of rabbit-shaped spirits that work as the theater’s defense and cleaning staff, along with the Hitsuji. Many of them have the ability to summon cleaning utensils and transform them into weapons. While the Hitsuji are more focused on cleaning, the Usagi focus more on ensuring the safety of the theater and the performers. However, they are also known for following some of the performers in search of affection, Nai in particular. When one can’t find a Hitsuji, an Usagi is usually the next best option. Much like the Hitsuji, the Usagi are very stern about keeping the theater clean.
