Name: Adam-Louis du Chalamet/The Beast
Age: 21
Powers: Super strength (cursed into a beast)
Love Interest: Belle Beauregarde
Family: Mrs. Potts (Mother-like figure), Lumiere (brother-like figure), Cogsworth (Butler/father-like figure), Chip Potts (younger brother-like figure) Gabrielle-Rosemary du Chalamet (mother), Marcus du Chalamet (father).
Personality: Although he may look fearsome and perhaps a little scary at first glance due to his primal instincts, Adam is from the monstrous beast his appearance may show. While as a child Adam showed to be a little irritable, slightly spoiled, and a bit selfish though it may be due to his father lack of care for him and his mother. Because of the neglect his father had for his only son; Adam developed a very bitter outlook on life, becoming hostile towards others and frustrated whenever things didn’t go his way before eventually regretting it afterward. However, even before he was cursed into a beast, Adam held a lot of conflict within himself and strived to maintain his humanity after it happened while trying to help others, like his mother. Adam especially grew ashamed of his previous actions of trying to impress his father instead of focusing on what was important, taking the blame for what happened to him.
Due to his childhood, Adam can be quite stubborn and often lacks the proper manners most adults his age would have, yet he manages to show a softer side that not many see. He is also known to be very temperamental, though this may be largely due to his own insecurities about the curse affecting him. And while he may seem aloof at first, he isn’t completely apathetic as he tries his best to empathize with those who suffer just like him. However, since becoming a guidance counselor, Adam has become selfless and more positive about himself. He has also become rather unfazed at the comments Adam gets about his appearance, relying mostly on patience and cunning towards those that are afraid of him. Though there are some moments where he may seem almost suicidal at times, Adam is still able to put enough effort towards being a good role model to the other students, no matter what people may say about him. Above all, Adam wants to try his best to help those who can’t necessarily help themselves and is willing to sacrifice himself if it means to protect others.
Backstory: Before Adam decided to help students at Arcane as a therapist, Adam was born to a wealthy family in France in a small village outside of Paris. His father had owned a publishing company that sold both magical and non-magical books, while his mother had been a writer, known for mostly creating fantasy novels for young readers. Although Adam had been happy for the first few years of his childhood, things changed by the time he turned nine and his mother suddenly contracted a non-magical illness that couldn’t be cured. After learning about this from the doctors his father grew distant from both of them, completely dissolving himself into work, leaving Adam to mostly care to for his mother alone. But Adam refused to give up so easily and decided that he would try to search for a cure by magical means in their private collection if his mother couldn’t be cured.
As the months passed, Adam’s research proved to be unhelpful as his father tried steering him away from the magical texts they owned, believing that magic was dangerous and he should be prioritizing the family business instead. Of course, this only began to frustrate him more than he already was because to him, he felt like his father had cared more about his publishing business than acknowledging that his wife only had another year to live. Because of this, he looked elsewhere for a potential cure and went to their local market that sold both magical and non-magical items to see if there was anything Adam could use there. Upon arrival, Adam began to search around for anything that might help, until he overheard a group of citizens discussing about a powerful quill that could fix anything the user writes with. Unfortunately, once he got home to show the quill to his father, his father ended up getting angry at him causing the two to break out into a heated argument with his father. Eventually; Adam’s father declared that the quill was useless, seeing no point to cure something that couldn’t be fixed and ordered his son to give up on Adam’s mother. Enraged at the idea of his father suggesting to let his mother die, Adam tried to take the item back from his father to prove him wrong but just as he watched him try to burn the quill. Yet once Adam managed to get the quill back; Something…happened that none of them expected as the quill began to snap and Adam’s life changed forever the moment the quill’s magic turned him into a…beast that he couldn’t recognize.
Horrified by his son’s sudden new appearance, Adam was promptly secluded to the highest tower in their mansion, never to be seen by anyone else as his father was afraid of their family’s reputation. Although, Adam was still angry that his father cared more about his reputation than curing both his son and wife, Adam continued to research everything he could do to heal them without Mr. Chalamet’s help. During his isolation, he slowly concluded that he was cursed because he only thought about proving his worth to his father than helping his mother. Still, Adam resolved to find a solution no matter what it took, even if it meant that he had to leave home to do it. Eventually after convincing his father that he couldn’t stay, he left their home in secret once his father mentioned that he overheard about a town that would be better off for a monster like him called Lunaville. Believing this could be his chance at breaking his curse, he packed his bags and left without a single goodbye to his father, vowing to return only for his mother if he had too. The journey to Lunaville wasn’t as easy as Adam was hoping it’d be as it was halfway across the country. But with the money his father had managed to reluctantly given him for his travels and remembering some of his former servants had left to live in Lunaville, Adam tried to contact them for living arrangements. Although, once one of them answered (a woman by the name of Mrs. Potts), Mrs. Potts had admittedly been surprised to hear Adam after so long. After he explained his situation to her, the woman insisted that Adam should live with them in their boarding home where a few other former servants lived. Soon enough, Adam was already booking a boat leading him to the States and eventually boarded a train straight to Lunaville.
After some time on the train, he finally found himself in the center of Lunaville’s station, Adam was amazed by the number of different races of people living in the town…people that didn’t think much of a beast like him. Although there had been a few that were understandably still terrified of his appearance, he was more than grateful to see Mrs. Potts, Cosworth and Lumiere when he arrived on their doorstep and made him feel more at home than his father did. Especially for the first few weeks; though even with this Adam still needed to find a way to break his curse and wanted to see if there were others like him he could help too. It wasn’t until one day at dinner Mrs. Potts’ youngest son, Chip mentioned that his counselor at the elementary school helped him and others no matter who they were. Chip also mentioned the main school, Arcane had dozens of books about curses that might be able to help him. Realizing that this could be a chance for Adam to get the answers he desired, Adam went to fill out an application for the position and waited to hear back from the headmistress. A few days later he received an unexpected visit from Isabelle herself for a surprise interview and asked him why he wanted the job. He explained to her that he enjoyed the idea of helping others and wanted to try his best to help those in similar situations like himself. Seemingly satisfied with his answer, Isabelle told him his application was accepted and hoped he’d start as soon as possible. Feeling overjoyed, Adam thanked Isabelle for the opportunity and quickly researched everything he could to help the students and hoped they could have a better future than he did.
