Name: Hu Tao (Western Naming: Tao Hu)
Nickname: “Prank Ghost” (Nickname from her academy days)
Age: 20
Species: Human
Power: Ghost Summoning (Fire)
Occupation: Head Morgue Attendant at Lunaville Hospital/Student at Grimoire University
Personality: At first glance, Tao appears to be a quirky and cheerful girl, who enjoys playing pranks on people. Due to her youthful looks, most believe her to be a student at the local academy instead of a working adult, though she doesn’t generally tell people the truth.
Tao enjoys pranking people and despises sitting around and doing nothing, as she wishes to live her life to the fullest. Her eccentric and off-the-wall personality often leaves people with a negative impression of her, but those who can handle this unique personality of Tao’s can find that she is a loyal and reliable companion who can accomplish most anything she sets her mind to.
On the other hand, when handling the deceased, she becomes more solemn and constantly reminds her employees to never deviate from the client's requests. Tao takes her job seriously, and treats the deceased with great respect, taking care to properly handle their bodies.
Despite her negative impressions, she is also shown to be quite intelligent, not just about her work, but most local myths and legends of Lunaville. She is quite secretive with sensitive information, refusing to disclose it as she claims that the fewer people know, the safer they are.
Tao accepts death as a natural part of life and does not hesitate to tell others to enjoy their short lives; while this makes her sometimes insensitive to others, it helps her truly respect her job.
She’s especially fond of fellow troublemakers and pranksters, and was deemed a senior prankster by fellow students during her years at Lunaville Arcane Academy.
History: Tao Hu was born and raised in her hometown’s funeral parlor, the Wangsheng Funeral Palor, well-renowned for its open-minded practices towards handling funerals, an approach to ease both the dead and living’s worries.
Tao grew up around the concept of death and spirits, and thus, it came much easier for her to understand than most children her age in the town, allowing her to awaken her magic quickly at a young age.
Due to how the other townsfolk found the funeral parlor and the family who ran it rather creepy, Tao’s childhood companions were ghosts she had summoned herself. Thus, began the rather eccentric personality she would be well-known for as she grew up.
Tao often skipped classes at her school growing up, but remained among the highest-graded students, due to diligent studying she did on her own time. The studies and careers offered to her through her hometown’s school system didn’t interest her at all.
Instead, Tao wanted to go into something along her family business, but she felt she wasn’t ready to handle the funeral parlor just yet. Perhaps once she was older, but for the time being, she turned to the medical field, and eventually found what she was looking for.
A diener, or rather, a morgue attendant. A job that involved handling the bodies of the deceased. It was rather close to the work the funeral parlor did, so Tao decided it would be a good experience.
Once she was of age, Tao was enrolled into Lunaville’s Arcane Magia Academy, taking extensive medical classes on the side throughout her entire stay at the academy, being well-known among the staff for not only her high-grades, but her well-spread reputation of being a prankster and troublemaker.
Despite this, she did her best to be a good example for the younger students, though one questions on what a “good example” means to Tao, considering she allowed her pranks to be viewed in full detail by some of them.
After graduation, Tao applied to Lunaville’s hospital’s morgue, and has since been a general hard-working nuisance in the hospital, doing her job seriously but causing white hairs everywhere she goes. Alongside her own work at the hospital, Hu Tao is often found adding her chaos to the local college campus as one of it's students.
