Name(s): Buddy Pine (real name)
Other Names: Professor Syndrome (by the students of his class and faulty), Professor Flamehead (students behind his back)
Birthday: April 25
Age: 25
Species: Human
Powers: Technopathy
Occupation: Science Teacher and Tech Teacher at Arcane Magi Academy, freelance inventor and scientist
Personality: Syndrome considers himself to be the cool, fun, teacher in his lessons. The type that acts like an entertainer in his lectures, experiments and just enjoying what he does. He can be sarcastic and a smartass to the students, especially those who either talk back or make smart-mouth responses to him. However, behind his rather hammy and snarky personality is his somewhat envious feelings for magic users with more versatile powers. His desire is to give everyone powers so no one would be without magic or power as means of everyday life.
Syndrome is also very intelligent as whenever he's not teaching his students the sciences of magic he's writing down observations, results, and reactions of the magic users or getting to work on his next project. However, despite his rather rather sarcastic and egotistical nature toward his students, he does care about them and will protect them if it's absolutely necessary. He can also be very encouraging to students with an intelligent mind and knack for tech and mechanics to the point of encouraging them to join the Robotics Club and even offering scientific mentorship.
However, his pride in his intelligence has him being very protective and possessive of his own personal inventions that if one borrows a tool from him, he will want to be supervising so that the individual does not break his stuff. However, compliment him and praise his own brilliance enough and he will happily fix a piece tech with very little problem.
History: When Buddy Pine was just a kid all he wanted to be was to become the sidekick or apprentice to a powerful magician and gain the fame and glory that only the greatest heroes can be. Over the years Buddy was rejected by heroes who felt that he was either getting in the way or just not strong enough to protect people. Though such statements were made mainly due how he tags along with the emergency magic users who are trying to do their job and can't help everyone who making sure this one kid endangering himself isn't getting himself killed. Buddy tries to make up for each rejection by inventing a new gadget that he feels would come in handy for each escapade that he has attempted and will attempt.
Years go by and Buddy eventually outgrows his desires for the fame of heroism and focus on his inventions, selling them and making money off of them, paving the way to a scholarship in sciences and engineering. As Buddy tests out most of his inventions on himself he feels a surge in his body like the type magic users have eventually looking his inventions as a possibility of giving powers to any non-magic user who doesn't have them. One day Buddy, discovered his ability to manipulate technology after accidentally breaking one of his gadgets and with only the memory of how it was made and where certain pieces needed to be where in order to get fixed and working again the gadget started building back up itself. Excited Buddy starts studying his powers, the developmental stages and as to where he got it and why it only just showed up along with practicing his technopathy while in college. However, even all his theories as to why his powers are activated now or why they exist he still feels like this type of thing needs to be learned more about and how certain magic applies to the science. Buddy, now giving himself the "professional" name of Syndrome decides to become a science teacher, mostly to just study his own students, applying to Arcane Magi Academy for being the top school with wide varying students of magical abilities.
Professor Syndrome still thinks at the idea of giving his gadgets to non-magic users so they, like as he imagined himself to be, can have powers and be "magical".
Face calms: Syndrome from The Incredibles
Notes:
- He is a bit of a flirt with the female teachers
- Hates Alastor for messing with radio signals, especially the signals that mess with the translating earpieces.
- He's quite rich from selling inventions and when not living on campus, has a lavished home.
- His favorite drinks are mimosa and black coffee.
- Since his second year as a teacher he's been making and reinventing these earpiece translators
- As of this current year and his over sixth year of teaching the foreign student have the Earpiece Localizer 6.0
- He give these earpieces to all the teachers so they can give them to their foreign students on the first day. If the foreign student already got one from a previous class during the first day than the teacher will save the ones leftover in case of emergencies.
- The Earpiece Localizer can translate the words spoken by a person or groups of people and translate it for the wearer of the earpiece. The wearer would hear what's being said in his/her/their own language as a result. It does not give the wearer the ability to speak the language back.
- The earpieces also have a tracking device just in case.
