Name: Trafalgar Law (Introduced this way, first name is Law)
Age: 26
Species: Human
Power: Remote Teleportation (Teleport matter/energy without physical contact)
Occupation: Doctor at Lunaville's Hospital
Personality: Laid-back, smug and often deadpan to the point of being excessively blunt, Law can usually either be seen with a frown or smug smile, when not observing everything around him with a keen gaze. He often notices the small details and things people generally don't get on first glance, and files it away in his head for later use.
He's a schemer, and tends to use this personality trait for his own advantage by avoiding trouble or bring attention to himself. Law dislikes being putting in the spotlight, but he can and will occasionally enjoy chaos caused by other people's troublemaking. Especially Hu Tao's, who usually generates chaos anyways.
He's fond of the "wait and observe" approach, preferring to have all the cards in his hands before he makes a move. He will, however, occasionally be bold and take control of a situation if needed to, even if it means he's not fully aware of everything involved in it.
He dislikes fames and riches, and only really uses his paycheck to fund his coffee addiction, which just adds to his sheer lack of sleep, which is already present due to his work and sheer exasperation caused by patients and coworkers. Law is fully aware this pattern is unhealthy, but he has a reputation to keep, so he refuses to go down easily.
Law hates being ordered around by just about anyone, and will often ignore or outright go against any demands or orders to take a break or rest, though he keeps an eye on his limits and does relent when he's getting dangerously close to just falling unconscious. The sheer amount of distaste Law has for being ordered around is what actually led him to work hard and fast for his position in the hospital, besides his general work-ethic.
He's a blunt man with no general regard for things that will complicate or just upset the rhythm of his dailiy life, so he generally just says he doesn't want to deal with anything in that category, and refuses to amend or apologize for this behavior.
Despite Law's terse and somewhat unkind demeanor towards others, he still has a strong sense of compassion and kindness, though he hates letting others see or find out about it, due to the sheer fact that his workload would increase if people found out he was more approachable then he seems.
History: Born and raised in Flevance, a country far to the north of Lunaville, on another continent, Law is known as the only of the sole survivors of what is known by many as "The Tragedy of Flevance", an outbreak of the Amber Lead Disease, a dangerous life-threatening plague that would cause long, painful deaths for those infected. This outbreak was caused by the greed of the country's government, and it's source came from their main income, mining.
Before the outbreak occurred, Law was the son of two doctors, with a young sister named Lami whom he cared for deeply. He was a sweet, gentle boy who wanted to become a doctor like his parents and help others. However, when the sickness came, the country fell into disarray, and was targeted on all sides by other countries, who believed the disease to be contagious.
His parents did all they could to help, but without the proper supplies, it was hopeless. Further more, Lami had been infected and was slowly dying, a cruel fate for an innocent child. A woman who often helped the local church, Ayaka Sunohara, was attempting to sneak any refugees she could out of the city, and tried to convince Law to come with her.
He refused, wanting to try to help his family, and Ayako understood, saying she would come back to get him, she promised. But things quickly took a turn for the worse. Rioters targeted the hospital both his parents and sister were in, and it collapsed in a fiery blaze due to an explosion, leaving Law an orphan in only a brief moment.
The government of their country couldn't be trusted, full of the corrupt, cruel and greedy, his family was gone in one fell swoop, and Law himself began to catch the illness. It was truly a nightmare.
But there was one small ray of shining light, the woman who promised to return for him did, saving Law's life by sneaking him out of the country, and hiding among a traveling caravan after swearing the diseases was not contagious, begging them to show mercy to a sick child who had done no wrong.
Together, Ayaka and caravan cared for Law to the best of their abilities until they managed to reach a city with a nearby forest in which a powerful healer lived, Porlyusica of the Magic Council. The woman walked day and night through the forest to reach the healer's home, pleading with her to save Law's life, unable to let this child die without doing everything she could to help him. If nothing else, she begged, let this child die without pain. Let him know only peace.
Despite her hatred for humans, Porlyusica took pity on them and agreed to help cure Law's disease on the condition that if she couldn't do anything for the boy, they would leave immediately. Close to tears, Ayaka agreed, praying that Law would be able to live as Porlyusica began to assess the boy and see what she could do.
Fortunately, she had managed to bring Law just in the nick of time, and with the council member's magic, was able to make a full recovery. His temporary caretaker was moved to tears at the sight of him without the spots that were symptoms of the Amber Lead Disease, and thanked Porlyusica several times over before the older woman finally had enough and kicked them out, saying that her job was done and they didn't have to waste her time any longer.
Relived that her charge would live, Ayaka returned to the nearby city, and took residence at an local inn to help out while Law was admitted as one of the children in the orphanage, with no family left and no one daring to send him back to his home country when it was all but destroyed. There, Law spent the next few years withdrawn from the other children and often harsh, due to his trauma, but still choosing to help the staff with the younger children, who often reminded him of his sister. The only person he was even slightly polite to, though, was the woman he traveled with.
Ayaka constantly visited him to see how he was doing, and make sure the orphanage was doing well. She often offered to adopt Law, but he refused, saying she already had her hands full with work at the inn and he didn't want to add to her burden.
Eventually, when Law was just a pre-teen, a man named Donquixote Rosinante began to visit the orphanage, bringing toys and gifts as donations, though he often played with the children as well. Initially suspicious of his intentions, Law quickly came to the conclusion he was just an awkward, comedically clumsy man who wanted to adopt a kid, but didn't want to stand around all day and look creepy, so he brought gifts and things to donate to the orphanage that the children could use.
Loud, awkward, clumsy...but harmless. Law summed Rosinante up in that single sentence to Ayaka with a deadpan expression, and she almost burst her gut laughing. Eventually after months of the man visiting the orphanage, and slowly winning Law over with his kindness and willingness to let Law control how fast or slow their progress went, understanding he was traumatized from his previous experiences, Rosinante adopted the boy as his son.
They remained within the city, and often visited the orphanage to help out when they could, though Law often had to bring Rosinante to the local inn to stay a night when the man's clumsiness broke something in the apartment that rendered it unlivable for a night, allowing the two important people in his life to finally meet. They hit it extremely well, and quickly started dating only a few months, to no surprise of Law.
Eventually, when Law was a teenager and began to think of what he wanted to do, thoughts of his family and the woman who saved his life by curing of the dieases ran through his head, and he decided he wanted to live up to his family's legacy as doctors, helping the sick and wounded heal and even if they couldn't fully return to normal lives, he wanted to make the process as painless as possible for them.
When bringing this up to Rosinante and Ayaka, the two fully encouraged him, with Ayaka herself saying she would be so proud of him if he could even just one person feel the relief she did when Porlyusica cured him. It was a definite stamp of approval, as far as he was concerned.
Law quickly began medical school as soon as possible, with his studies funded by Rosinante, who wanted to help his son follow his dreams, even if it cost him a little bit of money. He and Ayaka made enough to live comfortably, so there was no real concern of being poor.
During his studies, Law discovered his own unique magic and began learning how to apply to his work, doing his best to effectively make it another tool he could use to save lives. Graduated at the top of his class, Law began traveling around to several different hospitals in order to gain experience and figure out where he was best suited. During this time, Rosinante and Ayaka got married and have been happily wedded since.
Now, at the age of 26, Law is permanently stationed in Lunaville, and is one of the most renowned medical professionals on site, having every single intention of ensuring his patients leave the hospital as healthy as he can make them without literally defying the laws of nature. It isn't an easy job, and he's often tempted to knock himself into a coma because of his co-worker's antics, but the gratitude and relief he sees on the faces of people who care about the patients keeps him going. Not that he'd ever let anyone know, of course.
