Name: Kotori Otonashi
Age: 27
Species: Human
Power: None
Occupation: Librarian of Arcane Magia Academy
Personality: Kotori is an open-minded, kind and smart young woman who acts as the main librarian of the academy's library. She takes her job very seriously, and does her best to make sure the library is clean and tidy, as well as make sure no books are missing. She has a good memory, though it sometimes takes a bit to jog it. Because of her not having any powers, she worries about the magical items in the city and academy, not wanting to run afoul of them.
While she's usually stern with the rules, she can occasionally let a student be a bit loud so long as they don't disturb anyone. However, one of the flaws Kotori has is that she has a habit of losing herself in daydreams or thought sometimes, and often becomes embarrassed and flustered when someone catches her doing so, apologizing repeatedly until she's assured she's not in trouble for it.
She's fond of singing, and can occasionally be found humming on the job, a habit from when she spent her teenage years singing with her mother.
Besides that, any sightings of Kotori's ire is often seen with people who don't return their books on time or take good care of them while borrowing them. Should she be missing a book from the library's collection, her mood tends to worsen, especially if it's clear the book has been stolen. Kotori will, on occasions, even ban someone from the library after finding the culprit and retrieving the book.
Any magical books Kotori finds in the library, she tends to bring it up to the headmistress or another member of the staff, to determine if it's dangerous, and if they say it is, Kotori locks it away in the forbidden section of the library, or even removes it from school property, with permission of course.
Besides her dedication to her work, Kotori is kind and somewhat motherly to younger students, especially Letty. She's often supportive of them and their desires to learn, helping them find the right books to study, and even offering advice if it's something she can help with.
She's at her most angry when a person endangers a child for any reason, and doesn't tolerate any kind of bullying or harassment, even if intervening should put herself in danger. If Kotori ever got hurt defending one of the students, she wouldn't regret it.
History: Born the daughter of a young idol and librarian, Kotori was raised learning both of the two worlds. It was often a difficult life, due to her mother's work taking her away from home and leaving her father to raise her mostly on his own, causing the young girl to feel like she really only had a father.
It was no surprise she had gotten closer to her father whilst her mother was but a stranger to her, often spending her days at the library he worked at, due to him not trusting a babysitter because of her mother's fame. As she began to grow older, her parents started arguing over who was doing more work to raise her more and who was managing everything in the house.
It was often very stressful, and emotionally-draining for Kotori to listen to the arguments from her room, so she tended to sneak out to the library, eventually spending more and more time there even when her parents weren't arguing, just because the building gave her quiet and peace of mind.
She loved her parents both dearly, but Kotori knew she took more after her father, and wasn't ashamed of it, she just wished she could find a bonding point with her mother. However, her chance came when her mother decided to retire early from idolhood when Kotori was teenager, helping her through the parts of it that her father couldn't quite understand.
It was both helpful, and a bonding experience for the two, especially when Kotori discovered she liked singing, so her mother helped her practice but didn't push for her to become an idol like she did, saying it wasn't a life suited much for Kotori.
After her high school graduation, Kotori decided she wanted to be a librarian, to neither of her parent's surprise. It was clear the girl took very much after her father in his passions, and they wouldn't begrudge her a chance at her dreams.
Working hard at a college aboard, she studied and studied, having the top grades of her year due to her hard work and dedication, all the while working part-time at the town's local library to earn money and some experience.
It was a rough time for Kotori, with many sleepless nights, but she did her best, never faltering. After eventually graduating with top grades, and feeling a confidence she wouldn't necessarily say was founded, Kotori looked for places with open applications.
She eventually found one with Arcane Magia Academy, where the position for main librarian was open. Feeling she had nothing to lose for at least trying, Kotori send in her application for the position.
After being contacted, and setting up an date, she traveled to Lunaville, and went through the longest, most through interview she had ever seen, Kotori was delighted to learn she was going hired, and immediately settled down in the school, getting herself ready for her first year at work.
It was all going to be nerve-wrecking, no doubt, but Kotori hope and prayed for the best, and decided it was best to focus on her work then her worries.
